BASABAV

A clearer first step toward support at home

Home care guidance

Families often begin with one question: what kind of help is available? We provide a calm first conversation about care needs, coverage pathways and local resources.

01

What this service means

Home care is a broad term that may include help with daily activities, personal care, companionship, homemaker support or skilled home health services. Different programs have different clinical, financial and coverage requirements. An assessment is often needed before services are authorized.

03

What to consider

  • Which daily activities are difficult or unsafe right now?
  • Is the need personal care, companionship, household help or skilled medical care?
  • Does the person have Medicare, NJ FamilyCare, long-term-care coverage or other insurance?
  • Is there a doctor, care manager or hospital discharge team already involved?

Common questions

Does Medicare automatically pay for ongoing personal care?

No. Medicare home health coverage has specific eligibility and skilled-care requirements. Ongoing personal care may involve Medicaid, state programs, long-term-care insurance or private payment.

Does BASABAV decide eligibility or provide emergency care?

No. We provide initial guidance and connections. Programs, insurers and care providers make eligibility and service decisions. For an emergency, call 911.
